- Create a response team:You need to respond quickly in an emergency. Every member of the response team you have created should have one role to perform and be able to perform it at a moment’s notice.
- Purchase a communication system:In a crisis situation, being able to communicate with the response team is vital. This can mean two-way radios, smartphones with that can retrieve student and staff data (medical information and emergency contacts).
- Publish and practice your response drills:Share your emergency response drills with parents, they will want to know how you intend to safely secure their children in emergencies. Practice these drills regularly.
- Create good relationships with students:Get to know your students and show them you care by being involved. You can head off improper behaviors in students by understanding their individuality and adjusting counseling or help accordingly.
